Believe it or not, when I was studying accountancy, there was no such thing as accountancy courses online. Come to think of it there was no such thing as the internet….. and even if there had have been it wouldn’t have been any good because there was no such thing as home computers!

Accountancy Courses Online are now a Great Way to Study
Anyone wishing to enter the potentially lucrative accountancy profession should seriously consider accountancy courses online. Such training tends to cost less than the traditional classroom environment, yet offers the same qualifications as the more expensive alternative. Another couple of big advantages to studying by way of accountancy courses online, are freedom and time saving. Freedom to choose when you want to study – fit it in to your busy lifestyle – and the time saved from not having to travel to and from your local college or other training facility.
OK, you may miss out a little on the social side of things but the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages.
The opportunities and choices for accountancy courses online have grown significantly over the last few years, thereby increasing competition, and forcing these training establishments to maintain the quality of tuition to very high standards, and at very reasonable costs – a very important factor in these times of economic pressures.
Modern Technology and Accountancy Courses Online
Some people will think “Hey, this online stuff is a little impersonal, with no direct contact with my tuition team”. But with modern technology, many courses offered these days allow contact to their tutors by way of online chat, so getting feedback, or answers to queries from your tutor, is probably easier than ever, and will be on a one-to-one basis.
So whilst such courses offer a great deal of flexibility there will sometimes be, quite rightly, deadlines to adhere to when, for instance, test papers or projects need to be submitted.
One important factor to look at before enrolling on such a course is to ensure that the site that you are registering with is registered with, and recognised by, the governing body of the qualification that you will be studying for. Obviously, these vary from country to country – many countries have a variety of qualifications. Some are not as involved as others; some are only recognized in their own country, whilst others are acknowledged internationally, and make it easier to gain employment anywhere in the world after qualification.
It all comes down to the individuals personal choice.
If you don’t have much of an idea which accountancy qualification to go for, I suggest that you search the internet for ‘Professional Accounting Bodies’ and check out the ones that you come up with for your country. One good place to start looking would be at Wikipedia which gives a list of various bodies throughout the world.
If you decide that a full blown accountancy qualification is not for you, then consider looking at bookkeeping course online. There is a great demand these days from many businesses to have their day to day accounting records kept up to date by external bookkeeping businesses, and it is an ideal business for people wishing to be home based. It is usual these days for bookkeepers to use one of the excellent software packages that are on the market today.
